They collaborated on the single “It’s All About The Benjamins”, garnering the trio national attention. Their debut album, Money, Power & Respect, went platinum in 1998, peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart and was ranked #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-hop Albums. Their follow-up gold album We Are The Streets peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart and #2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-hop Albums. After 10 years of silence, Kendrick Lamar has finally dissed Drake and J. Cole. Following the release of his verse on “Control” (2013) by Big Sean, wherein Lamar threatened several major hip-hop artists of the time, both Drake and Cole have released subliminal and conspicuous disses directed towards the rapper. Drake has primarily blasted Kendrick via interviews and social media, while Cole has limited his disses towards Kendrick to his music. Incredibly, despite Drake and Cole releasing statements, verses and various subliminal disses, Kendrick has denied both of them public responses for over 10 years. However, in response to the collaborative track, “First Person Shooter” (2023), wherein Cole and Drake essentially eliminate Kendrick from the podium for ‘greatest rapper alive,’ Kendrick finally unleashed wrath with his scathing verse on “Like That” (2024) by Metro Boomin and Future.

Queensbridge Houses, named after the Queensboro Bridge and known simply as “Queensbridge,” “The Bridge,” or “QB,” is the largest housing project in New York City and the largest in North America. The Queensbridge Houses were once at the center of the rap universe in North America from 1980-1990s. Queens, produced more rap talent than entire cities, states, and regions—Marley Marl, Roxanne Shante, Nas, Mobb Deep along with a hive of gifted MCs and producers emerged from QB. More than a sub-niche of New York boom bap, Queensbridge’s sound mirrored life in the projects. The music was violent, claustrophobic, and nihilistic. It was confrontational. That the defining rap beefs of the 1980s (MC Shan vs. KRS-One), 1990s (East Coast vs. West Coast), and 2000s (Nas vs. Jay Z) all involved artists from Queensbridge was no coincidence. Queensbridge rap thumped. It banged.

The Mighty Wu Tang Clan Mix

The Mighty Wu-Tang Clan

The Wu-tang Clan formed in late 1992 and has proven to be the most revolutionary Hip-Hop group through their music produced in the mid-90s, which wasn't their most valuable aspect. The clan consisted of nine emcees, “The RZA,” “GZA,” “Ol' Dirty Bastard,” “Method Man,” “Raekwon,” “Ghostface Killa,” “Inspectah Deck,” “U-God,” and “Masta Killa.” Their obligation was furtherance to engulf the record industry in a profitable manner for their winning. So their plan was to release a strong group debut album, then collaborate with one another to release invaluable solo albums.

The Wu-tang Clan received their title through the martial arts film, "Shaolin and Wu Tang," which portrayed multiple disciples of the temple to be disciplined in the Wu-tang form. The origin of the word "Wu-tang" derives from Wu Dang, the Taoist holy mountain located in the Central China in the Hubei Province. The word also is the name of the Emperor Yong Le's Ming Purple Imperial City, which was constructed during the time period of 1404-1420. Their debut album, "Enter the Wu-tang (36 Chambers)," was designed to contain a Shaolin vs. Wu-tang theme, and dialogue from the Wu-Tang films were used as skits. An emcee of the Wu-Tang Clan, Method Man, also notes that a sword cutting through air molecules results in a "Wu" sound effect and the "Tang" sound effect is the result of contact made with a shield.

Ruff Ryders Mix

Ruff Ryders' founders were initially famous for managing rappers DMX and The Lox who became multi-platinum stars for Def Jam Recordings and Bad Boy Entertainment in the late-1990s. After DMX's success, the management company started its own label imprint through Interscope Records, and had success with releases from female rapper Eve, former Bad Boy Records group The L.O.X. The Deans' nephew Swizz Beatz is the main producer for most of the acts on the roster. In 2001, Cassidy was signed to the label through Swizz Beatz along with Full Surface labelmate Yung Wun.

For those of you who don't know, Monet Tejada is a character Mary J. Blige plays on the show GHOST, created and executive produced by rapper and Hip Hop mogul 50 Cent. Mary's character is a strong drug queen pin whose hardcore and ruthless in her journey to gain and maintain power in the drug game.

Mary J. Blige the singer/songstress is not that much different from the character she plays on GHOST. Mary's music is strong, soulful, inspirational and moving. Mary has always had a way of connecting with her audience in the way that feels as if she is going through the exact same struggles as her fans. What make Mary such an incredible artist is her vulnerability and her transparency. Mary wasn't just your average superstar ... she showed us she is human. Her story of pain and struggle resonated with the people and she became a queen because of her honesty in her songs. Real recognize real. Mary has the gift of blending R&B & Hip Hop perfectly grabbing the attention of both male and female fans. Her hardcore and creative approach in her music led to her ability to play characters like Monet Tejada with ease.

Mary J Blige is a gift to music and Hip Hop as a culture, Therefore, I salute her with a mix of some of her dopest remixes old and new. Respect to the Queen of Hip Hop and Soul ... Ms. Mary J. Blige aka Monet Tejada.

Bulletproof ... G Unit Edition

In the early 2000's 50 Cent came through a changed the game in Hip Hop. After being shot 9 times and surviving, as if he were bulletproof. 50 was determined to make a name for himself in this thing we call Hip Hop. He changed how the game was played, he intimidated a whole genre, and he ended a few careers in the process. He didn't do it alone though, he had some help from his team G Unit. Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, and then built a whole label and included some other artist to the label. G Unit was a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, like many other Hip Hop crews G Unit broke apart and 50 became more than just a hip hop icon. 50 has the TV game on smash now and he remains to be untouched, unmarked, and Bulletproof.

Death of A Dynasty

In the late 90's and early 2000's Roc-A-Fella Records was a force to be reckoned with. The partnership between Dame Dash, Jay Z, & Kareem Biggs seemed to be a match made in heaven. After the untimely deaths of 2PAC & BIGGE, Jay Z fought for the title for greatest rapper. Nas gave Jay a run for his money. In order for Jay to solidify his rein on top he needed a strong camp and that brought about the emergence of the Roc. He built a team that dominated the charts for a number of years and created what was considered a Hip Hop Dynasty. Unfortunately, dynasty's don't last forever and due to a number of factors like fame, greed, money, & power .... caused the Death of a Dynasty.
